Phillips didn’t seem real happy to see Pacman back
Tuesday, November 25th, 2008“All the pressure is on him, really, to do the right thing,” said Phillips, who hadn’t chatted with Pacman because he was busy preparing for Thursday’s game against Seattle.
Phillips stated again that Pacman, who won’t be eligible to play until Dec. 7 in Pittsburgh, works hard in practice and can help the Cowboys. Phillips also made it clear that he thinks Pacman’s NFL career is over if he has one more incident that draws Roger Goodell’s ire.
Phillips’ attitude seemed to be: If Pacman stays on the straight and narrow, swell. If he screws up, see ya later.

“My definitive take on whether the Cowboys should fire Wade Phillips is. … I don’t know. Is that OK?”
DallasNews.com: Wade & Jerry have wrecked the team Parcells built
Wednesday, November 5th, 2008Bill Parcells built this team to have staying power during his four years as head coach and GM adviser.
That said, it was clearly time for him to go because the players had stopped responding to him, but Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips have wrecked this team far quicker than I had ever imagined. Read More

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008Tim MacMahon wants to give Wade Phillips a little help
Monday, November 3rd, 20081. Figure out a way to light a fire under the underachieving offensive line, starting with Flozell Adams. If that means threatening his starting job, so be it. Unproven Pat McQuistan can’t perform any worse that Adams has over the last month.
2. Make sure your defensive players know what the heck they’re doing. Giants RB Brandon Jacobs said he could hear the Cowboys complaining to each other between plays about not being in the right gap. The secondary pointing fingers at each other after touchdown passes is a regular occurrence. There’s no excuse for frequent mental breakdowns two months into the season.
3. Figure out a way to put the $9 million receivers in position to earn their paychecks. Tony Romo’s return will help, but T.O.’s struggles date to the third game of the season. Roy Williams made a phenomenal, one-handed catch on the only pass thrown his way yesterday.
Lets play Jeopardy… The Answer “Just another quarterback.”

Agony And Ecstasy
Monday, November 3rd, 2008Wade Phillips Post Game Press Conference
Monday, November 3rd, 2008Opening statement…
Tough game for us. We knew coming in it was going to be a tough one and we didn’t play well enough overall. Turnovers obviously kill you, and we didn’t play well enough in the red zone defensively. I thought we got after the passer pretty well but we didn’t stop the run. We had a tough time moving the ball and we knew we would but we didn’t think we’d turn the ball over like we did.
On forcing the Giants into making turnovers…
We made some plays defensively today but it just wasn’t enough. The first drive really hurt us. We come in here and want to play really well and they go out and score on the first drive, then they get a turnover and turn around and score on us on the second drive. Then we were playing from behind and when you’ve got your backup quarterback in there, it’s not a good position to be in.
On making a quarterback change in the first half…
Yeah I thought about it but I didn’t make that decision until later. We thought we’d give him (Brooks Bollinger) the second half but the second half didn’t start out too good either.
On being in last place in the division…
We’ve got two weeks to get ready and start playing the rest of our schedule. We know it’s going to be tough but I think we will have some players coming back from injury; we’ll be healthier than we have been, and that’ll help us out. We’re going to look at the things we need to do and try and do them better.
On putting in Brooks Bollinger…
He’s another quarterback and we wanted to see if he could move the ball better. That was the big thing. He’s a different type of quarterback. He’s not a runner but he moves around a little more. We didn’t protect the quarterback when either of them were in.
On the weakness of the team’s back-up quarterbacks…
We’ve only won one of out of three with them and it’s not all the quarterbacks’ fault obviously.
On struggling against the Giants running attack…
We didn’t tackle well. We had a couple of series where we were thinking about the last turnover or something. I was disappointed against the run, we played well against the pass except in the red zone, and obviously we had some missed tackles.
On the team’s mentality without Tony Romo…
Yeah. When you go from the third ranked offense to whatever we’ve been the last few games, yeah, it’s going to make a big difference.
On Tony Romo’s impact when re returns…
Well, we’ll score more points and I think we’ll move the ball better, which is something we haven’t done well.
On the team dealing with adversity…
I think our team will stick together. We knew going in what was happening. We knew what was happening last week but we fought hard. Today we tried hard but we just didn’t play well.
On the importance of the bye week…
I think this open date should help us prepare mentally and physically. We need to clean up some things.
On Jason Witten’s injury…
He said he could play, which he could. We talked to the doctors obviously and he felt alright going into the game without getting a shot or anything. It was a surprise to me because I thought he was out for sure. How effective he could be though was still a problem but they said it wouldn’t be any worse than it was. I think he got through the game okay.
