As for Dallas, how can the ‘Boys have zero sacks and zero turnovers forced in two games? That’s one dysfunctional family.

Keep the Roof OPEN???

Friday, September 18th, 2009

For Sunday night’s nationally televised game against the New York Giants, the first regular-season game to be played at the new Cowboys Stadium, the retractable roof and the world’s largest sliding glass doors behind each end zone will be open.

It’s the first time in the stadium’s brief, albeit busy, history that the roof and doors will be open for any event. Kickoff will be 7:15 p.m.

The doors will remain open, along with the roof, throughout the game, barring inclement weather, in which case the Cowboys can close both.

The Cowboys practiced through a short rainfall Thursday. However, Sunday’s gametime forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a temperature around 80, with a very slight chance of precipitation.

“Yeah, I’m hoping it rains,” Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said, laughing. “We worked out in the rain a little bit today and that might help us.”

Some make the argument that the Cowboys should keep the roof and doors closed to create the loudest environment possible.

“I don’t know. I don’t have a feel for that,” Phillips said, when asked how having the roof closed might help his team.

“I think the crowd is the big thing and the home field, the home team, having all the people on your side, people screaming and yelling when the other team’s got the ball. That’s the only advantage in football.”

Will the Cowboys pick up Hank Baskett?

Wade Phillips on Dallas radio this morning, “sure, as soon as he can figure out how to catch a pass longer than 20 yards!”
